Road transportation
• Transportation of the body to Russia and the CIS:

Regardless of the mode of transportation (aircraft, road transport), delivery of cargo 200 is a highly responsible task, complex both documentarily and organisationally.
This procedure requires compliance with specific conditions (storage, transportation of the body) and involves the preparation of numerous permit documents for the transportation of cargo.
Brazil is the largest country in South America, and the distance from its cities to Minsk exceeds 11,500 kilometres. The most common departure points are São Paulo Guarulhos (GRU), serving a metropolitan area of roughly 22 million people, Rio de Janeiro Galeão (GIG), and the airports of Brasília (BSB), Salvador (SSA) and Fortaleza (FOR) in the northeast. São Paulo and Rio host sizeable Russian-speaking communities, along with Belarusian expatriates, students and seasonal tourists. We coordinate repatriation from any location in Brazil — from major metropolises to the coastal resorts of Bahia and the Amazon region. For around-the-clock assistance call +375 29 314-59-59; the same number is available on WhatsApp, Viber and Telegram.
Removing a body from Brazil requires a Brazilian death certificate (Atestado de Óbito), issued by the civil registry (Cartório de Registro Civil) on the basis of a physician's report or, in cases of sudden or violent death, a report from the Instituto Médico Legal (IML). Additional papers include an embalming certificate from a licensed funeral home (Serviço Funerário), a sanitary clearance from the municipal health authority, a sealing certificate for the zinc coffin and an export permit. All documents are legalised with an apostille — Brazil has been a Hague Convention member since 2016. For Belarusian citizens we also obtain clearance from the Russian Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro or the Embassy in Brasília. We handle the entire paperwork chain so the family does not have to navigate Brazilian bureaucracy alone.
There are no direct flights between Brazil and Minsk, so every repatriation involves one or two transit stops. The most reliable routings are via Lisbon with TAP Air Portugal, via Frankfurt with Lufthansa, Paris with Air France, Amsterdam with KLM, Istanbul with Turkish Airlines or Dubai with Emirates, with an onward connection to Minsk National Airport (MSQ). Domestic legs inside Brazil are operated by LATAM and partners. The body is placed in a hermetically sealed zinc coffin inside a wooden crate labelled HUM, in accordance with ICAO and IATA regulations. From the moment all documents are ready, the total transit typically takes 4 to 7 days, depending on flight schedules.
The time difference between Brasília (UTC−3) and Minsk (UTC+3) is six hours, which we factor into flight booking and communication with local authorities. Our coordinators work around the clock in Russian and English and liaise with Brazilian partners in Portuguese. Brazil is a predominantly Catholic country, and we can arrange a farewell service at a local parish before departure if the family wishes. The Russian Embassy is located in Brasília and the Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro; we interact with both directly, as well as with funeral homes in Salvador, Fortaleza and other cities across the country, relieving the family of the need to negotiate in a foreign language.
The cost of repatriation from Brazil is calculated individually and depends on the city of departure, the chosen transit hub, the weight of the cargo and the urgency of the case. We operate under a written contract with no hidden fees: the quote covers documents, apostille, embalming, zinc coffin, air freight, customs clearance and onward delivery to any Belarusian city — Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev or Vitebsk. The first consultation and preliminary estimate are free of charge. Repatriation.by has operated since 2009 and understands how painful the loss of a loved one abroad can be. Call +375 29 314-59-59 at any hour and we will take care of the rest.
You need the Brazilian death certificate (Atestado de Óbito) issued by the civil registry, a physician's report or an Instituto Médico Legal (IML) report for sudden deaths, an embalming certificate from a licensed funeral home (Serviço Funerário), municipal sanitary clearance and a zinc-coffin sealing statement. All documents are legalised with an apostille under the Hague Convention and translated into Russian. For Belarusian citizens we also obtain clearance from the Russian Consulate in Rio de Janeiro or Brasília.
Yes. International aviation rules and Brazilian sanitary law both require the body to be embalmed at a licensed funeral home and placed inside a hermetically sealed zinc coffin, which is then secured in a wooden crate marked HUM. This configuration meets ICAO and IATA cargo standards and is accepted at every major transit airport, including Lisbon, Frankfurt, Istanbul and Dubai. No airline will board human remains without this packaging.
Typically 4 to 7 days once documents are underway. Issuing the death certificate and apostille takes 2 to 4 working days; embalming and packaging take one day; the flight with a European or Middle Eastern transit lasts 17 to 24 hours. Criminal cases or traffic fatalities requiring an IML investigation can extend this. We provide a precise estimate after our first call once the circumstances are clear.
The cost is calculated individually and depends on the departure city (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and others), the chosen transit routing, cargo weight and urgency. Call +375 29 314-59-59 and within an hour you will receive a free preliminary estimate tailored to your case.
We are available 24/7, 365 days a year, including Belarusian and Brazilian public holidays. The total includes: Brazilian funerária services, embalming, a sealed zinc-lined coffin, Atestado de Óbito, Brazilian apostille (Brazil has been a Hague member since 2016), IML (Instituto Médico Legal) opinion for unnatural deaths, ANVISA international transfer authorization, consular fees, certified translation from Portuguese, air cargo rates from GRU (São Paulo) or GIG (Rio) via Madrid, Lisbon, or Frankfurt, and final delivery to MSQ. Call +375 29 314-59-59 — free itemized quote.
A 48-hour turnaround from Brazil is not realistic. The minimum is 5–7 days: the Atestado de Óbito is issued in 2–3 days (faster in Rio and São Paulo, longer in the Amazon or Northeast), IML opinion for unnatural death 3–5 days, apostille 1–2 days, ANVISA permit 1 day. Plus 2–3 days of transit via a European hub — two flights are mandatory. Urgent line: +375 29 314-59-59 — we accelerate every stage.
Yes. Belarusian citizens can enter Brazil without a visa for 90 days, Russians — also visa-free. This simplifies the accompanying person's arrival. For transit via Madrid, Lisbon, or Frankfurt a Schengen visa is required. We synchronize the ticket with the cargo flight — typically TAP Portugal GRU→LIS, Iberia GRU→MAD, or Lufthansa GRU→FRA, then on to Minsk. Call +375 29 314-59-59 — we discuss routing around the clock, including visa requirements.
Yes, 24/7/365 without exceptions. The death of a Russian or Belarusian tourist in Brazil — in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador, Fortaleza, the Amazon — often falls on Carnival, weekends, or holidays. Brazilian funerárias in major cities work around the clock. The time difference with Minsk is 5–6 hours — we work across time zones. +375 29 314-59-59 — phone, WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram anytime.
This is normal in the first days. The Atestado de Óbito is issued by Cartório de Registro Civil 2–4 days after medical certification. For unnatural deaths an IML opinion is mandatory and takes longer. Call immediately — in parallel we book cargo space, contact the funerária and the Russian or Belarusian consulate in Brasília or São Paulo, and prepare the apostille. This approach saves 1–2 days. 24/7: +375 29 314-59-59.
