Exporting a deceased person from Sri Lanka requires several official documents. The death certificate (මරණ සහතිකය) is issued by the Registrar General's Department. A medical certificate confirming the cause of death is also required, and in cases of sudden or unexplained death a forensic pathology report may be necessary. Embalming is mandatory for international air transport, and the body must be placed in a sealed zinc coffin inside a wooden outer crate, as required under ICAO/IATA standards. An export permit must be obtained from the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As Sri Lanka is not a signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention, all documents must be consularly legalised through the Russian Embassy in Colombo. Repatriation is carried out by air from Colombo Bandaranaike Airport (CMB). Main routing options include: Istanbul via Turkish Airlines, Dubai via Emirates or flydubai, Doha via Qatar Airways, Abu Dhabi via Etihad Airways, and SriLankan Airlines with an onward connection to Minsk (MSQ). Transit hubs such as Istanbul, Dubai, and Doha offer frequent onward connections to Minsk National Airport. The body travels in a zinc coffin enclosed in a wooden crate, in full compliance with ICAO/IATA regulations. Estimated total time from completion of documentation to arrival in Minsk is 5–10 business days. From Minsk we arrange onward transport to any city in Belarus: Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev, Vitebsk, and others.

Colombo is 4 hours ahead of Minsk, which we factor into coordinating with local authorities and funeral service providers.
