Road transportation
• Transportation of the body to Russia and the CIS:

Regardless of the mode of transportation (aircraft, road transport), delivery of cargo 200 is a highly responsible task, complex both documentarily and organisationally.
This procedure requires compliance with specific conditions (storage, transportation of the body) and involves the preparation of numerous permit documents for the transportation of cargo.
Algeria is Africa's largest country by area, a Maghreb state with close historical ties to Belarus through Soviet engineering and medical programs. We are approached by families of Algerian university graduates from Minsk, Gomel and Grodno; Algerian engineers and businessmen who worked in Belarus; and mixed Algerian-Belarusian families. Muslim funerals in Algeria are conducted per Maliki madhab with burial required within 24 hours. Repatriation from Minsk to Algiers is a regular route. We deliver the body from Minsk-2 airport (MSQ) to Houari Boumediene International Airport (ALG) in Algiers with maximum speed and coordination.
Documents in Belarus: medical death certificate from the State Forensic Committee, ZAGS certificate, sanitary service permit, embalming act, zinc coffin sealing certificate. Belarus MFA apostille is mandatory. Algeria is not a Hague Convention member, so consular legalization is required through the Algerian Embassy in Moscow (no embassy in Minsk). Translations into Arabic and French by a sworn translator. For Muslim funerals — a certificate from the imam of the deceased's faith and a letter from the Algerian family indicating the wilaya and cemetery (maqbara).
Logistics from MSQ to Algiers (ALG) via European hubs. Turkish Airlines from Minsk via Istanbul (IST), then Turkish Airlines or Air Algérie to Algiers; total 8–14 hours. Alternatives: via Paris (CDG) Air France, via Frankfurt (FRA) Lufthansa+Air Algérie, via Rome (FCO) ITA, via Barcelona (BCN). Air Algérie has regular flights from European capitals. For urgency we choose the fastest route via IST. Human remains are processed as IATA HUM. Zinc coffin is sealed in Minsk, placed in a wooden crate with HUM marking in Arabic, French and English.
Reception at Houari Boumediene airport (ALG) is organized by our partner funeral home in Algiers in coordination with the Russian Embassy in Algeria (Belarus has no separate embassy — Belarusian citizens' interests are represented by the Russian consular department). Customs formalities 4–8 hours — Algeria has strict sanitary control. After release the body is delivered to a mosque for janazah prayer, then to the cemetery. Delivery is possible to any wilaya: Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Annaba, Batna, Blida, Sétif, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbès, Tizi Ouzou. Muslim burial without coffin — body in shroud (kafan), facing Mecca, per Maliki madhab.

In Belarus: medical death certificate from the State Forensic Committee, ZAGS certificate, sanitary permit, embalming act, zinc coffin sealing certificate, Belarus MFA apostille. Algeria is not a Hague Convention member, so consular legalization via the Algerian Embassy in Moscow is required. Translations into Arabic and French — by a sworn translator. For Muslim funerals — certificate from imam of deceased's faith and letter from the Algerian family indicating the wilaya and cemetery.
The 24-hour sharia rule in international repatriation is unfeasible. Burial can usually be arranged in 48–96 hours due to the strictness of Algerian sanitary formalities. Express: work immediately after the call, ZAGS at night, first business day — Belarus MFA apostille and Algerian consular legalization in Moscow in 1 day with a fee. Embalming and sealing — 6 hours. MSQ-ALG flight via Istanbul — 8–12 hours. Algiers customs — 4–8 hours (stricter than other Maghreb countries). Then mosque and cemetery.
The cost depends on airline (Turkish, Air Algérie, Air France, Lufthansa) and urgency. Base price includes: embalming, zinc coffin with sealing, wooden crate, Belarus MFA apostille, Algerian consular legalization, HUM airline ticket from MSQ, transit fees, ALG meeting, customs, delivery to mosque and cemetery in any wilaya. For Muslim funerals priority is speed. Exact amount fixed in a contract. No hidden charges.
Yes, a sealed zinc coffin is mandatory under IATA HUM international transport standards and Algerian sanitary rules, which are especially strict. However, per Maliki madhab the body is buried without a coffin — only in a shroud (kafan) facing Mecca. Therefore, in Algeria before burial the coffin is opened at the mosque or morgue, body washed (ghusl), wrapped in a white shroud and transferred to the cemetery (maqbara). The Belarusian sealing certificate is recognized by all transit countries and Algerian sanitary services.
The apostille is issued by the Belarus MFA, 19 Lenin Street, Minsk. Originals of ZAGS certificate, medical certificate, sanitary permit, embalming act are submitted. Standard 2 business days, expedited — 1 day. Since Algeria is not a Hague Convention member, apostille alone is insufficient — consular legalization at the Algerian Embassy in Moscow (no embassy in Minsk) is required. We handle the entire procedure including courier delivery to Moscow, on priority mode.
