Road transportation
• Transportation of the body to Russia and the CIS:

Regardless of the mode of transportation (aircraft, road transport), delivery of cargo 200 is a highly responsible task, complex both documentarily and organisationally.
This procedure requires compliance with specific conditions (storage, transportation of the body) and involves the preparation of numerous permit documents for the transportation of cargo.
The Belarusian diaspora in the United Kingdom is one of the largest in Western Europe: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow. Families turn to us when a loved one has died in Belarus and needs to be buried next to relatives in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, or when a British citizen has died in Minsk during a visit or work assignment. The UK has left the EU, so customs procedures differ and paperwork requirements are stricter — our team knows every nuance and takes on the full organisation from the first call, at any hour.
In Belarus we issue the death certificate at ZAGS where death was registered, obtain the forensic conclusion from the State Committee of Forensic Examinations in Minsk, prepare an embalming certificate, the zinc-coffin sealing act and the export permit. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues the apostille under the Hague Convention — the UK recognises it without additional consular legalisation. A sworn translator prepares the English version. The package is accompanied by a certificate of embalming and an Out of England Certificate (when death occurred outside England) for the British coroner and HMRC.
The main air route departs from Minsk National Airport (MSQ) with a transfer in Warsaw (LOT), Istanbul (Turkish Airlines) or Frankfurt via Lufthansa Cargo, landing at London (LHR/LGW/STN), Manchester (MAN), Edinburgh (EDI), Birmingham (BHX) or Glasgow (GLA). Total transit time is 22 to 30 hours. The alternative is a road route by hearse with the Calais–Dover or Hook of Holland–Harwich ferry: around 2,400 km and 3 to 4 days, accounting for the post-Brexit border formalities in the UK.
In the UK our partner — a licensed funeral director — meets the cargo at the cargo terminal, liaises with HMRC and Border Force and, if required, with the coroner, and hands the body to the chosen funeral home. Death registration of a foreign citizen takes place through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Burials at church or municipal cemeteries, cremation at any national crematorium, Orthodox rites at the Diocese of Sourozh, Catholic rites in the Westminster and Birmingham archdioceses, and Muslim rites at the corresponding communities are all supported. We coordinate with the Belarusian embassy in London.
The +375 29 314-59-59 line operates 24/7. On the first call we prepare a free transparent quote: body preparation in Minsk, zinc coffin, documents, apostille, sworn English translation, air tariff or hearse with ferry, post-Brexit customs clearance in the UK, handover to the funeral director. The price is locked in the contract and no extra charges arise. Payments are accepted in BYN, EUR, USD and GBP and a full set of financial documents is issued. Call — the coordinator will take on the entire organisation so you can focus on family.
We arrange repatriation across the entire United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The main air gateways are London-Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN), Manchester (MAN), Edinburgh (EDI), Birmingham (BHX), Glasgow (GLA) and Belfast (BFS). British partners transport the cargo to Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle, Cardiff, Bristol, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and any small parish. For Northern Ireland we use London flights or the ferry via Scotland.
In Belarus: ZAGS death certificate, forensic conclusion from the State Committee of Forensic Examinations, embalming certificate, zinc-coffin sealing act, export permit and MFA apostille. In the UK: international Laissez-Passer, apostilled dossier with English translation, Out of England Certificate, HMRC arrival notification, and a coroner's authorisation where required. Our team prepares both packages in parallel with attention to post-Brexit formalities.
Air transport via Warsaw, Istanbul or Frankfurt to London takes 3 to 5 days. That covers embalming, zinc-coffin sealing, the Belarusian MFA apostille (one to two days, or same-day express), sworn translation, Out of England Certificate and the flight itself. Road transport by hearse with the Calais–Dover or Hook of Holland–Harwich ferry takes 4 to 6 days, reflecting the longer post-Brexit customs clearance now required at British borders.
The quote includes body preparation in Minsk, zinc and wooden coffins, ZAGS documents, MFA apostille, sworn translation, LOT/Turkish/Lufthansa/BA air tariff or hearse work with ferry, post-Brexit customs clearance in the UK, meeting the cargo and handover to a funeral director. The final figure depends on weight, urgency and destination. Call +375 29 314-59-59 — a specialist will prepare a free transparent estimate in EUR or GBP and lock it into the contract without hidden surcharges.
Yes. IATA rules, UK sanitary requirements and the Public Health (Mortuary and Post-Mortem Rooms) Regulations require a hermetic zinc insert inside a wooden coffin. Sealing is performed in Minsk by our specialists with a sanitary inspector present, and a sealing act with a serial number is issued. UK customs and Border Force verify zinc integrity on arrival. Opening the zinc coffin without permission from the funeral director and Environmental Health Officer is forbidden — only the wooden lid is lifted for farewell.
The apostille is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus at 19 Lenina Street in Minsk. Since Belarus is a Hague Convention member, the apostille is fully recognised in the UK after Brexit. Standard processing takes one to two working days; express can be done the same day. Our lawyer files documents by notarised proxy, pays the fee and hands the ready package to a sworn English translator, certified by the British consulate or a notary public.
Yes. Relatives may fly on the same LOT/Turkish/Lufthansa/BA flight or travel with the hearse and ferry. For the flight a UK visa is required — a Standard Visitor Visa or special Family/Funeral visa; VFS Global centres in Minsk accept applications on an express basis with the death certificate. A Schengen visa for the airside transit zone is generally not needed, but is sometimes required for transfers in Warsaw or Frankfurt. We issue the cargo-200 accompaniment certificate at once.
Belarusian citizens obtain a UK Standard Visitor visa or a funeral visa at the VFS Global centre in Minsk. With the apostilled death certificate and an invitation letter from a UK funeral director, the visa can be processed via Priority or Super Priority service within 5 to 24 hours. For transit via Warsaw, Istanbul or Frankfurt a Schengen visa may also be needed. We prepare an official English invitation and a supporting urgency letter.
Yes, the +375 29 314-59-59 line operates 24/7. We answer calls on New Year, Orthodox and Catholic Christmas, Radunitsa, Easter, Belarusian Victory and Independence Days, and UK Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Easter and Bank Holidays. The body-collection team is dispatched at any hour. ZAGS and MFA paperwork is filed on the next working day, while body preparation and zinc-coffin sealing proceed in parallel to save time.
Call immediately. We begin body preparation, embalming, zinc-coffin sealing and flight booking in parallel with the paperwork. Our lawyer obtains the medical death certificate from the State Committee of Forensic Examinations, registers the death at ZAGS, picks up the official certificate, submits it for the MFA apostille and forwards it to a sworn translator. If relatives are abroad, everything is handled under a notarised power of attorney certified at the British embassy in Minsk or by a UK notary public.
