Road transportation
• Transportation of the body to Russia and the CIS:

Regardless of the mode of transportation (aircraft, road transport), delivery of cargo 200 is a highly responsible task, complex both documentarily and organisationally.
This procedure requires compliance with specific conditions (storage, transportation of the body) and involves the preparation of numerous permit documents for the transportation of cargo.
Repatriation from Belarus to Cuba is requested by mixed Cuban-Belarusian families, by relatives of Cuban graduates of Minsk universities who passed away in Belarus, and by Belarusian retirees who spent their final years on the island but died while visiting home. Soviet-era ties between Havana and Minsk produced many bilateral families whose loved ones rest on both sides of the Atlantic. When loss occurs in Minsk, relatives often ask to send the body home — to Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Santa Clara or Holguin. Our service handles the full chain: from the Minsk morgue to a Cuban cemetery, addressing political and logistical specifics of the route with trusted partners in Havana and Varadero.
Documents in Belarus follow a standard sequence: ZAGS issues the death certificate, the State Committee of Forensic Expertise provides the cause-of-death report and an infectious disease clearance, then we obtain the export permit and the embalming certificate. Cuba is not a Hague Apostille signatory, so the Belarus MFA apostille is not accepted — full consular legalization is required: first Belarusian MFA, then the Cuban embassy (the nearest one accepting documents from Belarus is in Moscow). All papers are translated into Spanish by a sworn translator, notarized, and prepared as bilingual packages for customs clearance at José Martí airport.
Logistics are complex because no direct Minsk-Havana flight exists. Historically, Russian charter carriers Nordwind and Pegas Fly operated Moscow-Havana tourist charters, but the landscape changed after 2022. Practical routes are: Minsk → Istanbul (Turkish Airlines) → Havana HAV via Madrid or Cancun; Minsk → Moscow (by road or train) → Havana direct on Nordwind/Azur Air when available; Minsk → Frankfurt → Madrid (Iberia) → Havana. Total transit time is 28-36 hours. We select the option based on funeral dates and cargo-hold availability able to accept a zinc coffin.
In Cuba, customs and sanitary services at José Martí (HAV) clear the cargo-200 once the full legalized package is presented. Our partner, Servicios Necrológicos of Havana, meets the shipment, completes formalities with Aduana and Ministerio de Salud Pública, and transports the body to any city on the island. Burial is available at Catholic, Protestant or secular cemeteries — the Colón Cemetery in Havana is Latin America's largest necropolis. Cremation is possible but less common due to Catholic tradition. We liaise with the Russian embassy in Havana, which represents Belarusian citizens on consular matters.
We operate 24/7, weekends and holidays included — grief has no schedule. A preliminary quote for repatriation from Minsk to Cuba is prepared by phone or WhatsApp within 15-20 minutes; you receive a line-item estimate (documents, zinc, transport, flights, Cuban handling). The price is transparent and fixed by contract, with no hidden urgency or holiday surcharges. Call +375 29 314-59-59 — the dispatcher will take the request, start ZAGS and MFA processing within an hour, identify the optimal route, and accompany the family through every step, including coordination with relatives in Havana.
The main entry point is José Martí International Airport in Havana (HAV), reached via Madrid, Moscow, Cancun or Panama. Our Cuban partner then drives the cargo anywhere on the island: Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, Camagüey, Santa Clara, Varadero, Cienfuegos, Pinar del Rio. For eastern provinces we can use a domestic Cubana de Aviación flight to Frank País (HOG) or Antonio Maceo (SCU), saving 12-14 hours compared with road transport. We confirm the final destination before booking the international leg.
In Belarus — ZAGS death certificate, State Forensic Committee report, infectious-disease clearance, embalming certificate, export permit, zinc-coffin sealing report. Everything is translated into Spanish by a sworn translator, notarized and passed through consular legalization at Belarus MFA and the Cuban embassy in Moscow. In Cuba, our partner submits the package to Aduana General de la República and Ministerio de Salud Pública to obtain import and burial permits. Both countries exchange information through the Russian embassy in Havana, which acts for Belarus.
Five to eight working days from the moment of death until the body arrives in Cuba. Three to five days go to paperwork and consular legalization (the Cuban embassy in Moscow processes documents in 2-3 working days), one day to zinc sealing and flight booking, and 28-36 hours to actual transit via Istanbul with a Madrid connection or via Moscow with a Nordwind connection. The timeline can only be accelerated when the apostille chain is pre-completed and cargo slots are freely available on the chosen flight.
The starting price is USD 6,900. It covers Belarusian document processing, Spanish translation and consular legalization, the zinc coffin with sealing, the outer wooden transport crate, delivery to Minsk-2 airport, air freight to Havana with one connection, and Cuban partner meet-and-clear at HAV. Excluded are in-country transport within Cuba (calculated by distance), local funeral services, plot and headstone. A firm quote with every line item is issued over the phone within 20 minutes of the first call.
Yes, it is mandatory. Cuban customs and the Ministry of Public Health accept a cargo-200 only inside a hermetically sealed zinc container placed in a wooden transport crate with handles. Sealing is performed in Minsk with certified welding equipment, and we issue a sealing act with the seal serial number and the embalmer's signature. The Belarusian sealing certificate is translated into Spanish and added to the document package. Without zinc the airline will refuse cargo acceptance and Cuban customs will not issue an import permit.
Cuba has not joined the 1961 Hague Convention, so a regular Belarus MFA apostille does not work. Full consular legalization is required: a notary authenticates the documents first, the Belarus MFA adds its stamp, and the package travels to the Cuban embassy in Moscow for final certification. The embassy is at Leontyevsky Pereulok 9, Moscow, with 2-3 working days processing. We manage the whole chain; a courier carries documents both ways so the family does not have to travel to Moscow.
Yes, accompaniment is possible but requires a separate tourist card (tarjeta de turista), issued by the Cuban embassy in Moscow or by the airline at the departure airport in Madrid or Moscow; the fee is 25-30 euros. If you travel on the same flight as the cargo, book both tickets together so arrival is synchronized. When connecting through an EU hub like Madrid, a Schengen transit visa is also required if you leave the transit zone. Our manager arranges all permits in parallel.
Belarusian citizens enter Cuba with a tourist card issued in 1-2 days at the Moscow embassy or purchased at the departure airport (Moscow, Madrid, Frankfurt). Stay is 30 days, extendable by another 30. Schengen transit visas at Madrid or Frankfurt are required only if leaving the transit zone; for short same-terminal connections no visa is needed. We advise on the routing and help assemble the Schengen application package — invitation, insurance, hotel booking — so the whole family can travel together.
Yes, the +375 29 314-59-59 dispatch line is open 24/7, including Belarusian state holidays (New Year, Orthodox Easter, 9 May, Independence Day) and Catholic/Cuban holidays. Belarusian ZAGS and MFA offices close on official non-working days, so we prepare all paperwork in advance and file it the first working morning, while simultaneously booking flights and coordinating with the Cuban embassy in Moscow. Zinc sealing, embalming and transport preparation run independently of the calendar — our team arrives any day, any hour.
If the Belarusian or Cuban passport is missing, or the birth certificate or residence permit is lost, do not panic. We coordinate through the Russian embassy in Havana (which represents Belarusian interests in Cuba) and through the Belarus MFA, restoring references and duplicates within 3-5 working days. For Cuban-origin deceased with missing Cuban documents, we request confirmation through the Registro Civil of Cuba. Call us immediately — the earlier restoration begins, the smaller the delay and overall cost of repatriation.
