Road transportation
• Transportation of the body to Russia and the CIS:

Regardless of the mode of transportation (aircraft, road transport), delivery of cargo 200 is a highly responsible task, complex both documentarily and organisationally.
This procedure requires compliance with specific conditions (storage, transportation of the body) and involves the preparation of numerous permit documents for the transportation of cargo.
Ecuador is one of few countries that keeps a visa-free regime for Belarusian citizens (up to 90 days), which has produced a noticeable Russian-speaking community in Quito, Cuenca, Manta and along the coast of Manabi province. Belarusian and Russian emigrants work there in IT, tourism and environmental projects. Some plan to return home when the time comes; others ask to be buried near their Andean family or on the Pacific coast. We work with both categories: we ship bodies from Minsk to Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca and Manta, and also handle return repatriations to Belarus for families in both directions.
In Belarus we prepare the full package: ZAGS death certificate, State Forensic Committee cause-of-death report, infectious-disease clearance, export permit, embalming certificate, zinc-sealing act. Ecuador joined the Hague Apostille Convention in 2005, so a Belarus MFA apostille is sufficient without consular legalization. Everything is translated into Spanish by a sworn translator and notarized. Copies are sent to the Ecuadorian partner in advance for pre-filing with Servicio Nacional de Aduana del Ecuador (SENAE) and Ministerio de Salud Pública to ensure smooth clearance on arrival.
No direct Minsk-Ecuador flight exists. Optimal routings are: Belavia or LOT to Frankfurt, then KLM Amsterdam — Quito (UIO) or Guayaquil (GYE) via short transit; alternatively Iberia or Air Europa Madrid — Quito/Guayaquil. Total transit is 24-30 hours. KLM operates daily direct Amsterdam-Quito, and Iberia daily Madrid-Guayaquil. Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 cargo holds reliably accept zinc coffins. The distance between Quito and Guayaquil is 420 km; internal Avianca or Equair flight 50 minutes, or 8-9 hours by road through the Andes.
In Ecuador, formalities occur at Mariscal Sucre (UIO, Quito) or José Joaquín de Olmedo (GYE, Guayaquil): SENAE (customs), Ministerio de Salud Pública, migration. With a complete apostilled package, clearance takes 3-5 hours. Our partner funeraria in Quito (e.g. Jardines del Recuerdo) meets the cargo, clears customs and transports it to morgue or directly to cemetery. Burial traditions are diverse: Catholic cemeteries in Quito (Cementerio de San Diego), Cuenca and Guayaquil, cremation available, indigenous coastal communities have their own rites. We coordinate with the Russian embassy in Quito.
The +375 29 314-59-59 line operates 24/7, no days off. The dispatcher takes the request and within one hour launches ZAGS and MFA processing, simultaneously booking the flight and contacting the Ecuadorian partner. A preliminary quote is ready in 15-20 minutes and the final contract within the day. Daily WhatsApp updates keep the family informed: every step is transparent, from first call to body arrival in Quito or Guayaquil. We understand the complexity: the emigrant died overseas, relatives in Minsk are in shock — and we take on the full organizational burden.
Two main international airports — Mariscal Sucre (UIO) in Quito and José Joaquín de Olmedo (GYE) in Guayaquil. For Quito, Cuenca (3 hours by road), Ambato — we use UIO; for Guayaquil, Manta, Salinas, Machala — GYE. Delivery to inner areas (Amazon region, Galapagos) is possible by domestic Avianca or Equair flights. The distance Quito-Guayaquil is 420 km. The final city is agreed on the first call and the route is built with minimum layovers and connections to speed up cargo arrival at the destination.
In Belarus: ZAGS death certificate, State Forensic Committee report, infectious-disease clearance, embalming certificate, export permit, zinc-sealing act. Everything is translated into Spanish by a sworn translator, notarized and apostilled at the Belarus MFA (Ecuador has been in the Hague Convention since 2005). In Ecuador, the partner files with SENAE (customs), Ministerio de Salud Pública and Registro Civil to obtain import and burial permits — usually completed within one working day after flight arrival at UIO or GYE.
Five to seven working days from death to arrival in Quito or Guayaquil. Two to three days for processing and MFA apostille, one day for sealing and booking, 24-30 hours for transit via Amsterdam, Frankfurt or Madrid. With the 24-hour expedited MFA apostille, the timeline shrinks to 4-5 days. KLM Amsterdam-Quito and Iberia Madrid-Guayaquil operate daily, which makes it easy to pick the nearest suitable flight with guaranteed cargo hold acceptance of the zinc coffin.
Base price from USD 6,800. It covers Belarusian document processing, Spanish translation, apostille, zinc coffin with sealing, wooden transport crate, delivery to MSQ, air freight to UIO or GYE with one connection, partner meet-and-clear at arrival. Not included: in-country transport within Ecuador, local funeraria services, plot, headstone, cremation. A firm quote is issued within 20 minutes of clarifying destination city and family's wishes on the route, including any accompanying relatives.
Yes, it is mandatory. Ecuadorian customs SENAE and the Ministry of Public Health require a hermetically sealed zinc container inside a wooden transport crate for all international cargo-200 shipments. Sealing is performed in Minsk with certified welding equipment, and a sealing act with seal serial number is issued. The Belarusian certificate is translated into Spanish, apostilled and presented at UIO or GYE customs. Without zinc, KLM, Iberia and Air Europa will not accept the cargo for air transport.
Ecuador joined the Hague Convention in 2005, so a Belarus MFA apostille is sufficient without additional consular legalization. Standard procedure: notary authenticates the document, Belarus MFA applies the apostille in 2 working days (or 24 hours expedited). We process the apostille with a power of attorney from the family; no personal MFA visit is required. The apostilled package is translated into Spanish by a sworn translator and emailed to the Ecuadorian partner simultaneously with the cargo flight.
Yes, and this is one of few destinations with visa-free entry for Belarusians — up to 90 days without prior application. A valid passport with at least 6 months validity, return ticket and proof of financial means are sufficient. For transit via Amsterdam, Madrid or Frankfurt a Schengen visa is additionally needed if you plan to leave the transit zone. We help with Schengen and pick a route with minimum layover so the family can fly the same flight as the cargo, guaranteeing synchronous arrival.
For Belarusian citizens entry to Ecuador is visa-free up to 90 days — a unique opportunity among Latin American countries. For EU transit (Madrid, Amsterdam, Frankfurt) a Schengen visa is needed only when exiting the transit zone; short same-terminal connections require no visa. Our manager selects a route with minimum layover and helps apply for Schengen if needed at the Dutch, Spanish or German consulates in Minsk — 5-10 working days processing with a supporting document package from the funeral provider.
Yes, the +375 29 314-59-59 line is 24/7 year-round. Belarusian ZAGS and MFA offices close on state holidays, but we prepare all paperwork in parallel and file it the first working day with priority processing. KLM, Iberia and Air Europa fly to Ecuador 7 days a week, so a flight is available almost any day. Zinc coffin sealing, embalming and coordination with the partner in Quito or Guayaquil operate without days off — the team goes out any day and any hour to prepare the cargo.
If the deceased has no valid Belarusian or Ecuadorian passport, or other documents are lost, do not panic. We restore them through the Belarus MFA and the Russian embassy in Quito (which serves Belarusian citizens consularly in Ecuador). The procedure takes 3-5 working days. For Ecuadorian nationals with missing documents, we request confirmation through Registro Civil Ecuador. Call immediately — the earlier restoration starts, the shorter the overall repatriation timeline. The dispatcher gives an action plan within 15 minutes.
