Road transportation
• Transportation of the body to Russia and the CIS:

Regardless of the mode of transportation (aircraft, road transport), delivery of cargo 200 is a highly responsible task, complex both documentarily and organisationally.
This procedure requires compliance with specific conditions (storage, transportation of the body) and involves the preparation of numerous permit documents for the transportation of cargo.
Repatriation of a deceased person from Belarus to Colombia is a route requested by mixed Belarusian-Colombian families formed thanks to Colombian students who studied at Minsk and Gomel medical universities in the 1980s-2010s. Today many have returned home to Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and Cartagena, but their elderly parents remained in Belarus. When one passes away the children wish to bury them near themselves in Colombia. We also serve the return home of Colombian citizens who died in Belarus, including athletes, expats and tourists.
Documentation in Belarus includes a Minsk ZAGS death certificate, State Forensic Committee medical report, Ministry of Health export permit and infection-free certificate. Colombia joined the Hague Convention in 2001, so a Belarus MFA apostille (Lenina 19) is sufficient without consular legalisation. Documents are translated into Spanish by a sworn translator (traductor oficial) registered with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A sanitary certificate for INVIMA (Instituto Nacional de Vigilancia de Medicamentos y Alimentos) is additionally prepared for customs and sanitary clearance.
Logistics from Minsk-2 (MSQ) to Colombia is a transatlantic route with two connections: Iberia via Madrid (MAD) to Bogotá (BOG) — 20-24 hours; Air France via Paris (CDG) to BOG; KLM via Amsterdam (AMS) to BOG; Lufthansa via Frankfurt (FRA) with Avianca onward; Turkish Airlines via Istanbul (IST) with Panama or São Paulo connection. Main receiving airports: Bogotá El Dorado (BOG), Medellín José María Córdova (MDE), Cali Alfonso Bonilla Aragón (CLO), Cartagena (CTG), Barranquilla (BAQ), Santa Marta (SMR), Bucaramanga (BGA).
On arrival in Colombia the body clears DIAN customs and INVIMA sanitary control. Our partner Colombian funerarias (Los Olivos in Bogotá, San Vicente in Medellín, Metropolitana in Cali) meet the cargo and coordinate with the Russian Embassy in Bogotá (Carrera 4 No 75-02). The body is handed over for burial under Catholic (90% predominant culture), Protestant, Jewish or secular rites. Colombia requires a Registro Civil de Defunción at Registraduría Nacional. For Bogotá (2640 m above sea level) airtightness verification is required due to altitude.
We operate 24/7 no days off — on Colombian holidays (Navidad, Año Nuevo, Día de la Independencia 20 July, Batalla de Boyacá 7 August, Día del Trabajo 1 May, Semana Santa, Asunción de la Virgen, Día de la Raza, Todos los Santos, Día de Colón) and Belarusian ones. Colombia has many national holidays (18 official), complicating logistics. Repatriation cost from Minsk to Colombia is 9000-11500 EUR. Time zone difference between Minsk and Bogotá is 8 hours, factored into handover planning.
Base cost to Bogotá (BOG) from 9000 EUR; to Medellín, Cali, Cartagena from 9500 EUR; to remote regions (Amazon, Pacific coast, Llanos) from 10500 EUR. Quote includes embalming in Minsk, zinc coffin and outer wooden casket, full document package with apostille, Spanish translations, Iberia/KLM/Air France + Avianca air freight, DIAN customs, INVIMA, funeraria handover. Avianca/LATAM Colombia domestic flights add 300-700 EUR depending on destination and urgency.
Yes, a hermetically sealed zinc coffin is mandatory under INVIMA, IATA and Colombian sanitary standards. In Minsk sealing is performed at the State Morgue or certified private agencies with an airtightness statement in Belarusian and Spanish. The zinc container is placed inside an outer wooden casket with 'Restos Humanos' marking. The funeraria in Colombia has the right to open the zinc for velorio traditional open farewell. For Bogotá (2640 m) and Medellín (1495 m) the altitude factor is accounted for in sealing verification.
The apostille is issued at the Main Consular Department of Belarus MFA at Lenina 19, Minsk. Booking via mfa.gov.by or in person, processing 1-3 working days, state fee one base unit. Colombia has been a Hague Convention member since 2001, so an apostille is sufficient without consular legalisation. Spanish translation by a sworn traductor oficial registered with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is prepared in parallel. We handle the entire procedure with courier delivery of ready documents.

A typical situation for Colombian medical university students in Belarus or tourists — passport may be at the university, lost or damaged. We immediately engage a lawyer to liaise with the Colombian embassy in Moscow (Stoleshnikov Lane 11) for an urgent salvoconducto (temporary document), while Minsk ZAGS registers death on available data (migration card, student ID, arrival certificate). Forensic examination follows the protocol, body preparation proceeds in parallel without waiting for full documentation.
